At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon Wear Elite — its most powerful wearable chip ever, and the first one built specifically to run AI directly on your wrist. No cloud. No phone tethering. Just pure on-device intelligence sitting on your wrist 24/7.
And Samsung is already in. The next Galaxy Watch — likely the Galaxy Watch 9 — is confirmed to run on this chip.
So what’s actually new here?
The Snapdragon Wear Elite is built on a 3nm process — the same cutting-edge technology powering flagship smartphones. It delivers 5x faster single-core CPU performance and a 7x GPU boost compared to the previous generation chip. That means faster app launches, smoother animations, and no more lag when you raise your wrist.
Battery life gets a 30% improvement, and if you need a quick top-up, fast charging gets your wearable to 50% in just 10 minutes. TechRadar
But the real story is AI.
The chip includes a dedicated Hexagon NPU that can run billion-parameter AI models directly on the device at speeds of up to 10 tokens per second — enabling real-time life logging, on-device transcription, and AI agents that can execute tasks across apps.
